2024 MRCA Signatory Contractors Conference

THIS IS THE ONLY CONFERENCE OF ITS KIND OFFERED TO THE ROOFING INDUSTRY

The purpose of the conference is to assist MRCA Members that are signatory to various craft union by providing labor relations education, statistics and an exchange of information and ideas.

Speaker Seth Abraham, Director of HR for Kalkreuth Roofing and Sheet Metal, Wheeling WV
Seth will be discussing the National Maintenance Agreement and how the agreement can be effectively used by roofing contractors.  Seth is also on the Board of Directors for TAUC (The Association of Union Contractors) who is involved with the administration of the National Maintenance Agreement.

Speaker Jeff Eppenstein Director of Marketing development for the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers and the National JAC Training Fund.
Jeff will be giving an update on the International Union’s efforts in Workforce Development that includes Organizing Efforts, Apprentice Recruitment, and Apprentice and Foreman Training.

Speaker Carey Peters, Ph.D. Executive Director of the Construction Labor Research Council (CLRC)
CLRC is recognized by both the craft unions and employer groups as an independent source for statistics on the Union Construction.  Carey will be reviewing the latest statistics on contract settlements in each craft of the Building Trades from across the country.  He will also be reviewing specific statistics on fringe benefits; comparisons to cost of living; and market share studies that are performed by CLRC.

Speaker Christina Wernick Partner with Laner Muchin, LTD
Christina has an extensive background in construction industry labor law and has worked representing firms in the construction industry since the beginning of her career.  She recently spoke at a conference sponsored by the Mechanical Contractors Association of America and gave helpful insights into the strategy of negotiating a construction labor agreement. Christina will be presenting and taking questions on the following topics:
-Bargaining Basics - Both Legal and Strategy In These Times Of Very High Settlements
-Management Rights In Dealing With Union Mergers
-Decertification Elections Or Elections To Affiliate With Another Union
-Pension Unfunded Liability
-Use Of Federal Mediation In The Bargaining Process
-Federal and State Paid Leave Requirements

Registration is $360 per person. This includes dinner on March 25th and the meeting on March 26th. Just a reminder that if you have an Industry Fund in your labor agreement, registration, travel and hotel are legitimate expenses to be incurred by an Industry Fund for a session like this. Check your specific local Industry Fund by-laws or trust.
