Scholarships

When the foundation was established more than 20 years ago, its goal was to fund scholarships for anyone who intended to pursue a degree in the construction industry. This was a big goal for a small foundation. In its short history the MRCA Foundation has funded more than $150,000 in scholarships for more than 60 students. Amazing!
The MRCA Foundation has increased its goals for the scholarship program:
• Larger scholarship awards
• Scholarships for member company employees to attend MRCA Foundation funded training seminars.
Candidates interested in applying for an MRCA Foundation Scholarship Award must submit the required application and three letters of recommendation to the foundation. Only one letter of recommendation may come from a director of MRCA, and no letter from a director of the foundation will be considered.
Applications must be postmarked no later than June 20 to be considered for awards for the subsequent academic year. MRCA member companies are encouraged to distribute applications to academic institutions in their geographic area, or to worthy students.
Scholarships are awarded based on the applicant's academic performance, employment experience, financial need, and demonstrated desire to pursue a career in the construction industry. MRCA member companies' employees, employees' children and/or grandchildren are eligible to apply for a scholarship, with no regards to degree pursued.

Through the MRCA Foundation, Inc., grant money is available for research projects and educational sessions related to the roofing industry. Our goal is to fund projects that will improve the industry.
TECHNICAL & RESEARCH
The MRCA Technical & Research Committee has been revolutionizing the roofing industry since its very first project caused architects nationwide to accept its recommended minimum slope to allow for proper roof drainage more than 50 years ago. The Foundation will increase funding for research so that the industry can evaluate emerging product related issues more quickly, helping you stay ahead of the curve. Research grants are not limited to the MRCA Technical & Research committee's projects.
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
While the roofing industry provides some professional development and training resources, owners, managers and other staff are clamoring for more. The MRCA Foundation is stepping up to do just that. At the direction of its board, there will be curriculum guidelines, quality control and content oversight of the expert training/development programs and tools that the Foundation funds. These programs and tools will address very specific issues that will enhance your ability to run your business effectively and better manage people. What training do you need right now? The Foundation will solicit and fund expert programs to provide you with the training and tools that will help you improve the industry.
